Linux Security Engineer

The candidate will be a key member of a Security Operations Center based out of Washington DC. The position will provide security engineering, design, analysis, and management consulting in support of a high-profile federal government network. The candidate will analyze Enterprise application and email systems, LAN and WAN systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and counter measures. The candidate will be responsible to maintain and expand client relationships through delivery of high quality work.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate an achievement record in the design, development and delivery of security-effective, a range of public sector needs. The candidate should have excellent organizational, leadership, team building, and technical qualifications.

Requires BS/BA degree.
Requires 8-10 years experience.
Strong Linux administration experience a must.

  • Provide weekly statistics to upper management
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for a Security Operations Center
  • Provide management with correlation analysis of logs produced by the various network security and network filtering system logs.
  • Provide administration on Linux based systems, and create scripts to automate analysis procedures
  • Install, integrate and manage anti-spam filters, WebSense URL filtering system, outbound and inbound TCP/IP packet inspection systems
  • Install, configure and administer intrusion prevention systems (IPS) and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
  • Install, configure and manage firewall proxy and packet filtering systems
  • Provide immediate response to network security alerts from the CIRT or network monitoring systems.
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports as required by management on breaches in security and overall network security posture.
  • Apply patches and implement upgrades to assigned network security systems within the timeframe specified by the service level agreement
  • Configure and monitor secure remote login implementations i.e. SSH
  • Make security enhancement recommendations to management
  • Required to respond 24x7 when assigned on-call duty

 Sr. Principal Engineer, Network


The Teneo Group has an opening in Arlington, VA for a Senior Network
Engineer. The candidate will architect, configure and maintain the complex
communication network systems for our customer.

Provide network design consulting, architecture and engineering support for
The Teneo Group's customer applications, networks and systems. The candidate
will analyze LAN, MAN, WAN systems, including planning, designing,
evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites. As Sr. Network
Engineer the position is responsible for capacity planning, configuration
assessment, routers, switches, network appliances, servers, host, and other
communications devices.

Maintain and expand client relationships through delivery of high quality
work. Resolve interoperability problems to achieve interoperability across
all platforms, including voice, e-mail, data, multimedia, and
teleconferencing technology platforms

Duties include:

  • Establish networking environment by designing system configuration
  • Supporting system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards as they relate to IP engineering projects for all facilities. This includes conducting site surveys, project meetings, operational and aintenance issues.
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring performance
  • Troubleshooting network problems and outages
  • Scheduling upgrades
  • Collaborating with the Manager of Network Operations and the Director of Infrastructure Services on network optimization
  • Point of contact for all data communications networks

Educational requirements:
8+ years of experience in architecting enterprise level networks
4 year College/University Degree in related field

Experience with BGP, OSPF, and MPLS Technologies

Knowledge of IP multicast technologies
Experience with security and wireless technologies is preferred but not
required

Checkpoint Certified Security Engineer

Teneo is seeking a CCSA/CCSE certified engineer to join our professional services team.  The candidate must be well versed in network technologies such as routing and switch configuration.  The candidate will be responsible for checkpoint product deployment and troubleshooting. 

  • Requires BS/BA degree and/or 8-10 years experience.
  • Strong Checkpoint administration experience a must.
  • UTM experience preferred.
